FAQs
When are you available to meet?
Until the U.S. makes daylight savings time permanent, my meeting availability is Monday - Friday between 1 PM and 9 PM ET. Please use Calendly to find 30 minutes that work for both of us.
What is your leadership philosophy?
Read my full leadership philosophy on Notion.
In a nutshell, everyone has specific strengths, which I aim to identify and maximize. I provide inspiration and guidance to improve the team's performance while managing high-level company needs. I am equal parts passion, drive, and vulnerability.
How would you describe your leadership style?
A story: When given a new remote team to manage, I include on each week’s team meeting agenda a section called “Feelings.” Until others share what they are feeling, I share what I am feeling. This could go on for weeks or months. Eventually, others start sharing, too. And then I shut up and listen.
What process do you use to delegate responsibility?
Identify the outcome desired, not the work I think is necessary to reach the outcome.
Delegate that outcome and a deadline to a direct report.
Unblock the direct report by giving them the context, resources, and time necessary to do the work they deem necessary.
Create a shared “status doc” where the direct report tracks their progress and in which I can give additional context and resource when needed or prompted.
Hold them accountable to the deadline and the result. If they fail, discuss why and move on. (Everyone fails, and they’ll learn more through failure than any professional development the company offers.)
Take responsibility for their failure and celebrate their success publicly.
I enjoy solving marketing and business problems with people willing to be as vulnerable as they are skilled. My specialties are building and managing content marketing operations and remote teams.
What makes you excited about working in content marketing?
Three things excite me:
The opportunities to learn
The people I will meet (and learn from)
The effects of the work we do together
When everything gels, these same effects positively affect the health of the company. But the work often does much more than that for those engaged in it. It is our reason to be together, our means of personal and professional growth, and, real talk, our source of income.
